Representatives/contact persons of IAMU member universities,
As mentioned at the 17th Annual General Assembly in Haiphong in October 2016, the International Association of Maritime Universities has been organizing the IAMU Student Forum in July 2017. This announcement is to draw your attention on the progress of organizing the forum which is shown as follows.

10/07 Arrival Day
11/07 Opening ceremony and workshop
12/07 Workshop and Presentation
13/07 Technical tour
14/07 Departure Day
Main theme of the workshop is “Connecting Ships, Ports and People”, the theme of the World Maritime Day 2017.
Venue: IMO Headquarters
4, Albert Embankment, London SE1 7SR, United Kingdom
Please note that the venue of the forum will be at IMO headquarters in London, though the Secretariat announced in AGA17 that the venue would be in Tokyo. The Secretariat decided to change the venue from Tokyo to London, which was also supported by the International Executive Board members. Furthermore, Dr. Sasakawa, Honorary Chair of IAMU fully supported this Student Forum in London in July 2017 and directly encourage me to organize this wonderful event successfully.
Students’ Participation:
IAMU will invite ONE student from each member university. Travel and accommodation expenses of the student will be covered by IAMU.
As the student will participate in the workshop on maritime topics during the forum, you should nominate a student from maritime related BSc/MSc courses (Deck, Engine, Maritime Law and Logistics etc.) at your university. Furthermore, such a nominated student has to have the ability to discuss those topics in English.
Further information of full details of the event including topics of workshops will be given to you in the mid of February 2017. You may start selecting a student to participate in the event.
To establish a sure communication route between the Secretariat and your university, please acknowledge receipt of this message and, if needed, give me the name and mail address of the person who is responsible for this event on behalf of your university.
