On July 15, 2026, approximately 36 early career faculty staff from IAMU member universities around the world, together with eight facilitators and staff members, visited Etchujima Campus, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology(TUMSAT) as part of a technical tour held in conjunction with the Early Career Academic Forum organized by the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU).
IAMU is an international network of leading maritime universities worldwide. The visit brought together early career academic staff who will help lead the next generation of maritime education and research, representing approximately 26 countries across Europe, Asia, Oceania, and other regions.
During the visit, the group toured the laboratory of Associate Professor Shohei Komeda of the Department of Marine Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, as well as the experimental facilities of Assistant Professor Yutaro Sasahara of the Department of Maritime Systems Engineering.

Participants raised a number of highly specialized questions reflecting their expertise as professionals at maritime universities, leading to a lively and engaging discussion. Initiatives in maritime education were also introduced.
Going forward, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology(TUMSAT) will continue to strengthen its partnerships with overseas institutions and contribute to the advancement of maritime education and research worldwide.
