On September 9, 2026, Batumi Navigation University (BNU) welcomed Professor Takeshi Nakazawa, Executive Director of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU).
Professor Nakazawa was welcomed by BNU Rector Prof. Parmen Khvedelidze, Head of Administration–Chancellor Lali Khvedelidze, and Head of the International Relations Service Prof. George Gabedava.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current trends and challenges in maritime education, as well as opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between BNU and IAMU. Particular attention was given to joint educational and research initiatives, the exchange of experience and best practices, and expanding international opportunities for students and academic staff.
Professor Nakazawa was also introduced to BNU’s educational activities, academic programs, and international cooperation initiatives.
As a member university of IAMU, Batumi Navigation University places particular importance on its active engagement within the Association and the further development of international cooperation. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen BNU’s ties with IAMU and explore new areas for future collaboration.
