On Wednesday, 6 March 2024, the Executive Director of the International Association of Maritime University (IAMU), Professor Takeshi Nakazawa, visited the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor (part of the University of Montenegro). The visit by the IAMU’s top official was of great significance to our institution, especially considering that the Faculty has recently joined this prestigious Association.
After a brief overview of the history of maritime education in Boka Bay and the Faculty itself, Professor Nakazawa was cordially acquainted with the available resources and ongoing research projects at our Faculty. Following this, he readily engaged with media representatives, expressing his enthusiasm for Kotor and the Boka Bay region. He was particularly impressed by the diverse and ambitious activities carried out by the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor. Notably, he highlighted that the Faculty, with its potential and international projects, ranks among the top maritime universities.
Professor Nakazawa’s visit serves as a powerful catalyst, reinforcing our commitment to IAMU’s mission and fostering stronger connections with fellow IAMU members. As we eagerly anticipate the upcoming IAMU gathering in Massachusetts, we will be equally delighted to soon announce the forthcoming 4th Kotor International Conference (KIMC 2024), scheduled to take place from November 27 to 29 this year.
