Dear colleagues,
We are writing to share an important outcome of the Erasmus+ project DigiMar (Digital Education for Maritime Communication), coordinated by the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport of the University of Ljubljana, with the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor of the University of Montenegro, Faculty of Maritime Studies of the University of Rijeka, Chalmers University of Technology, Novia University of Applied Sciences as the project partners, along with maritime safety agencies from Slovenia, Montenegro, Croatia, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
One of the objectives of DigiMar was to examine routine VTS communication and, on the basis of empirical research and consultation with maritime professionals, develop a set of recommendations for the revision of the standard communication protocol. As part of the project, we committed ourselves to bringing these recommendations to the attention of relevant national and international maritime organisations and policymakers.
