The WG on OBT had an online meeting on 1st July 2020, shared the current situation and discussed how the IAMU can support in organizing on-board training programmes. The WG agreed to draft the IAMU statement for the purpose to raise awareness of the issue relate to on-board training to maritime community.
In light of this, the Secretariat contacted to the IMO Secretariat how best the IAMU can circulate the statement to IMO member states and NGOs, and was suggested to adding it under the links section on the main COVID page on the IMO web site. The Secretariat requested to IEB to approve the statement to be published in the IMO website upon approval by the Liaison Committee.
The IAMU statement was approved by the IEB unopposed, and officially published in the IMO website http://www.imo.org/en/MediaCentre/HotTopics/Pages/Coronavirus.aspx through links to the IAMU Statement and Summary result of the online survey.
