On 21 August 2024, the Executive Director paid a courtesy call on the new dean of the Faculty of Maritime Science and Technology at Kobe University.
The new dean, Dr. Katsutoshi Hirayama graduated Osaka University and joined Kobe University of Mercantile Marine in 1995. He has been actively working on the field to Artificial Intelligence and Operations Research, which are the hot topics in the maritime industry now.
The Executive Director briefly explained some activities achieved by academic staff at IAMU member universities and future possibility of academic collaborations among IAMU member universities. They exchanged their views in the future of maritime education and training on the level of higher education.
