The International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP), celebrated the International Day of the Seafarer by hosting a series of technical presentations under this year’s theme, “Carrying World Trade. Carrying the Risks,” which highlights the hardship, pressure, and risks faced by seafarers, particularly in high-risk and conflict-affected areas, while recognizing their essential contribution to keeping global trade moving. During the event, technical specialists, merchant marine officers, and cadets shared professional experiences and discussed the challenges, responsibilities, and commitment required to serve at sea.

The event concluded with a cookout that fostered camaraderie and professional networking among participants. The celebration was enriched by a performance from The Marine Forces Reserve Band of the United States, strengthening the spirit of friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding between institutions and the maritime community.
