At the invitation of Dalian Maritime University, Professor Srđan Vujičić from University of Dubrovnik travelled to China, where he presented the results of his research on the effectiveness of passenger ship evacuation to colleagues and students enrolled in graduate and postgraduate programmes.
In addition to the research findings, Professor Vujičić presented the objectives and activities of the Interreg NETLOOP project and the institutional MASTERS project.
During the visit, numerous meetings were held with university representatives, focusing on opportunities to expand existing cooperation, student and staff exchange, the preparation of joint international projects, and future cooperation in scientific research.
These activities contribute to achieving several objectives promoted by the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU), particularly strengthening international academic networks, fostering collaborative research, supporting student and academic staff exchange, and developing innovative approaches to maritime education and research.
As part of the visit, a tour of the university campus and visits to the training ships were also organised. Of particular interest was the visit to the vessel 新红专, one of the earlier examples of an autonomous ship that can be operated from a shore-based control centre. The visit provided an additional opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss the future of autonomous shipping, maritime safety, and emerging technologies in the world maritime education and training.
The visit to Dalian Maritime University represents an important step towards further developing international academic and scientific research cooperation and opens up new opportunities for joint projects, research activities, and knowledge exchange in the field of maritime studies.
