The International Day of the Seafarer in Batumi began with a ceremonial march by the cadets of Batumi State Maritime Academy. The march took place along the central streets of Batumi, accompanied by an orchestra. At the end of the march, the Academy’s cadets laid a wreath at the Junkers’ Memorial. The event was attended by the heads of the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia and Batumi State Maritime Academy, distinguished seafarers, representatives of the maritime community, and citizens. They paid tribute to the memory of the Junkers who died for the freedom of their homeland. Ivane Abashidze, Director of the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia, together with Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, visited Batumi State Maritime Academy. The Academy’s Rector, Murtaz Devadze, introduced the guests to the Academy’s infrastructure and modern educational opportunities. The delegation visited the Seafarers’ Training Centre, inspected its training infrastructure, and learned about the modern training simulators and equipment used in maritime education. These technologies enable seafarers to develop professional skills and train in conditions that closely resemble a real working environment. The Academy was also visited by Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Government of Adjara, and Tamar Ioseliani, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development. Within the framework of the event dedicated to Seafarers’ Day, students of Batumi State Maritime Academy took the Maritime Oath. During the solemn ceremony, the President of Georgia, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, and the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara addressed the cadets and wished them success in their professional careers. The oath-taking ceremony is an important tradition for future seafarers, reflecting their professional responsibility, discipline, and commitment to maritime values.
