The Day of the Seafarer, 2025 started early for MAAP cadets who participated in the Flag Raising Ceremony at Rizal Park at 0800H. This was followed by the Opening of the Navigation Simulator at the Associated Marine Officers and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP) MUSEUM. This Class B Simulator which was procured by AMOSUP and operated by MAAP staff, has ten (10) own ship models, ten (10) seaport areas and fourteen (14) exercises. This is designed not only to hone the skills of the Navigation Seafarers but also to allow them to bring their families to show the ports they visited and the complexity of shiphandling.
A seminar with Q & A was hosted by the legal department of AMOSUP on the new law – RA 12021 entitled Magna Carta for Seafarers which covered the rights, duties, welfare and benefits of Filipino Seafarers sailing on international ships.
At MAAP, a memorial was rendered to departed Alumni seafarers followed by a program by the cadets. Classes went on as usual.
In the afternoon, a party was hosted by the Union for its members with food, live band and raffles. More than 400 members attended the celebration.
