IAMU AGA2018
The Annual General Assembly (AGA) is an international conference of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU). The conference brings together experts and official representatives of each member institution from all over the world to discuss recent progress and future trends in maritime education, training, research and other matters within the scope of IAMU. IAMU AGA2018 will be the 19th conference as a sequence of events that started in Istanbul in 1999, and were held more recently in Constanta (2013), Launceston (2014), Opatija (2015), Haipong (2016) and Varna (2017). In 2018, AGA will be, for the first time, held in Spain and hosted by the Barcelona School of Nautical Studies (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech).

Abstract/Full Paper Submission
Authors are cordially invited to submit up to 2 pages abstract before 1st March 2018. The abstract acceptance for oral presentation will be 9th of April after the scientific committee evaluation. Accepted abstracts will published in The Book of Abstracts, which will have assigned International Standard Book Number (ISBN) as a unique numeric book identifier. During the abstract submission, the authors should indicate if they want their abstracts to be selected for the Conference Proceedings. The Scientific Committee will make the final decision on the selection of the contributions for the Conference proceedings. Instruction to prepare the full paper will be sent together with the notification of acceptance of the abstract submitted. (9 April 2018) Full paper will be requested by 1st June 2018. The Conference Proceedings (including full papers only) will be edited electronically and will be submitted for indexation in the Conference Proceedings Citation Index – ISI Web of Knowledge (Thomson Reuters) and in SCOPUS database.

Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, is known for its art and architecture. The fantastical Sagrada Família church and other modernist landmarks designed by Antoni Gaudí dot the city. Museu Picasso and Fundació Joan Miró feature modern art by their namesakes. City history museum MUHBA, includes several Roman archaeological sites.
The Barcelona School of Nautical Studies began its activity in the Barceloneta (fishing-men district) on June 26th, 1769. In 1770 the School already had 23 students and in 1772 it had 2 teachers. At present, since 1990, the Barcelona School of Nautical Studies is attached to the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (BarcelonaTech) and has over 90 teachers and 800 students. The current building of the Faculty, of neoclassical style and located in the Pla de Palau dates from 1932 and is the work of the architects Adolf Florensa and Josep Vilaseca. Its central part was designed to serve as a framework for the model of the ship San Carlos which you can still admire inside.
