Cebu, Philippines — The Peer-Assisted Self-Evaluation Scheme – Philippines (PAES-P) Working Group (WG) conducted a site visit to Cebu Technological University (CTU) – Carmen Campus on 17–18 November 2025 as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen maritime higher education in the country.
The PAES-P WG, led by Prof. Srđan Žuškin, Associate Professor at the University of Rijeka, and Prof. Ismail Çiçek, Associate Professor at Istanbul Technical University, met with CTU – Carmen Campus officials, faculty members, and students to review academic processes, evaluate program implementation, and share best practices in maritime higher education. The discussions highlighted opportunities to enhance curriculum delivery, improve quality assurance systems, and expand institutional collaboration.
CTU – Carmen Campus leaders expressed their appreciation for the team’s insights and constructive recommendations, noting that the visit supports the university’s commitment to delivering high-quality, industry-aligned education and training for future maritime professionals.
The PAES-P initiative builds upon the original PAES framework introduced in 2013, which established a structured approach to assisting maritime institutions in refining academic programs while recognizing diverse educational traditions and socio-cultural contexts.
This engagement also aligns with IAMU’s strengthened partnership with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) under the 2024 Memorandum of Understanding, which aims to advance maritime education and training (MET) institutions across the Philippines through expert guidance, curriculum enhancement, and collaborative capacity-building activities.
