The Secretariat is delighted to invite all member universities to the IAMU webinar on “VR training video database”.
The purpose of the webinar is to introduce the outcome of the FY2021 funded Organizational Development Project, Development of a VR Training Video Database led by Prof. Tamera Gilmartin from State University of New York, Maritime College. The project completed on the end of March 2021 and Prof. Gilmartin has a strong willingness to share the outcome of the project with member universities for their use and input. State University of New York Maritime College
Tamera is an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York Maritime College where she teaches a variety of navigation related courses and has been responsible for several experiential learning programs including Summer Sea Term as Senior Deck Training Officer onboard the school’s training vessel. She currently holds a Chief Mate Unlimited License and spent her sailing career on a variety of vessels including Research Vessels, Containerships, Tankers, and Military Supply Vessels. Her education includes a B.S. in Marine Operations and Technology, a M.A. in Learning and Emerging Technologies, and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. Tamera’s focus on experiential learning led her to explore the use of 360 Degree Videos with Virtual Reality as a teaching platform and has been the Primary Investigator for several grant funded projects including the IAMU Development Grant, “Development of a VR Training Video Database”.
