In Dubrovnik, from April 28 to 30, at the initiative of the Student Union and the Faculty of Maritime Studies of the University of Dubrovnik, the practical segment of the Maritime Days program on fire protection and safety procedures at sea was successfully held.
Students from maritime faculties in Rijeka, Zadar, Split, Kotor and Dubrovnik took part in a series of educational and practical activities focused on responding to emergency situations. Most of these maritime higher education institutions are also members of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU), further confirming the importance of international cooperation and the joint development of maritime education.
The program included a theoretical part delivered by professional staff, followed by practical demonstrations and firefighting exercises, as well as competitive activities on the training ground. The following day included simulations of resuscitation procedures and rescue operations at sea. Through this form of training, students had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge in shipboard safety, team coordination, and timely response in crisis situations.
Today’s activities once again confirmed the importance of practical training as an integral part of educating future seafarers, as well as the value of cooperation between higher education institutions and professional services.
