Distinguished Delegates, Esteemed Colleagues, and Friends,Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is a great honor for me to receive the title of Honorary Fellow of the International Association of Maritime Universities. This recognition holds special meaning, not only for me personally but also for the entire National University “Odessa Maritime Academy”, which I have the privilege to lead as rector since 2000, when the International Association of Maritime Universities began its activities.
Our university has long been an active participant in the IAMU’s initiatives. We share the Association’s vision of advancing maritime education, fostering innovation, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and sustainability in the global maritime industry. National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” fully supports the Global Maritime Professional (GMP) – Body of Knowledge IAMU Initiative. We confirm our commitment to incorporating the learning outcomes in the Body of Knowledge into our academic programs.
The International Association of Maritime Universities has provided a crucial platform for cooperation, exchange of knowledge, and innovation. It is through this spirit of collaboration that we, as maritime educators, can make a lasting impact on the world’s shipping industry. Special thanks to the Nippon Foundation for their continued support of the Association’s activities. Through joint efforts, IAMU has taken its rightful place in the International Maritime Organization as an international non-governmental organization in consultative status with IMO.
I am deeply honored to receive this recognition and look forward to continuing our close cooperation within this distinguished Association.
I would like to thank all member institutions, the International Executive Board, the Secretariat of our Association and the Nippon Foundation for the support, which allowed our delegation to take part in IAMU AGA and IAMU Conference.
Thank you once again for this great honor.
Warm regards,
Mykhaylo Miyusov
