On June 25, 2025, a festive event dedicated to the International Day of the Seafarer was held at Batumi Navigation University. This year, the event aimed to express respect and gratitude to those individuals who have made significant contributions to both the maritime field and the development and advancement of Batumi Navigation University. Their dedication to educating the younger generation of seafarers is invaluable. In recognition of their service, they were presented with symbolic gifts as a token of appreciation for their professional and public contributions. 

Moreover, BNU students paid tribute to the memory of distinguished seafarers by laying flowers at their graves. 

On June 24th, the IX International Scientific Conference „Sustainable Transport Systems and Maritime Logistics“ISTSML 2025, commemorating the International Day of the Seafarers, took place at BNU. The conference was dedicated to modern trends in the maritime sector, as well as socio-economic development and management issues. The conference was opened by the BNU Rector, Parmen Khvedelidze. Participants in the conference included representatives from both local and international universities.

On June 23, BNU hosted the Student 9th International Scientific Conference. Up to eighty students from twelve different higher educational institutions attended the conference.  Students from Batumi Navigation University, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Gori State University, Batumi State Maritime Academy, South Wales University, Szczecin Maritime University, Akaki Tsereteli State University, Sokhumi State University, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University and vocational students from Makhinjauri Maritime School presented their reports at the conference.

The conference aimed to facilitate discussions on modern processes and challenges within maritime sciences, logistics, management, business administration and economics. It serves as a platform to share knowledge and experiences among students from various higher educational institutions and encourages mutual cooperation.

The International Day of the Seafarer has been observed since 2011 at the initiative of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). BNU joins this initiative every year to promote the seafaring profession.
