We are delighted to inform you that IAMU is organising the Early Career Academic Forum in July 2026 and invites IAMU member universities to take part in the nomination process.
IAMU recognises the vital role that early-career faculty play in shaping the future of maritime education and training.
Supporting the growth and engagement (network building) of these faculty contributes not only to individual professional development but also to the advancement and long-term sustainability of member universities and IAMU as an organisation.
The forum will provide a platform for early-career faculty from IAMU member universities to connect, collaborate, and learn from one another through shared dialogue and discussion of relevant academic and professional topics under the IAMU’s global network.
Forum Overview:
Participants will be grouped by sub-themes. Each group is expected to develop a practicable action plan related to their sub-theme during a two-day discussion forum. The compiled action plans will form a part of the declaration at the closing ceremony.
Dates: 12-16 July 2026
Main theme: Charting a course for the future of MET (Sub-theme will be announced after the participants are selected.)
Venue: Tokyo, Japan
Nomination:
IAMU invites all member universities to nominate “ONE” early-career faculty member to the forum. Please check the nomination criteria and further details in the ToC documents. Required documents can be downloaded from the link below.
The forum will accept up to 60 participants to ensure a focused and effective program. Therefore, IAMU may not be able to accommodate all nominations.
