Batumi State Maritime Academy proudly celebrated the International Day of the Seafarer, marked by a special visit from the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The official ceremony was attended by the President of Georgia, the Prime Minister, and other distinguished members of the government.
As part of his visit, the IMO Secretary-General delivered an open lecture to BSMA students, offering valuable insights and encouragement to the future leaders of the maritime industry. He also toured the Academy’s facilities, including modern teaching laboratories, infrastructure, and training centers. The Secretary-General expressed his high satisfaction with the quality of education and the professional standards upheld by BSMA.
Georgia honors the International Day of the Seafarer each year with a vibrant parade through the city center, culminating in a formal ceremony recognizing outstanding seafarers and key representatives of the Georgian maritime sector.
