Working Group



IAMU pursues measurable and worthwhile outcomes on specific subjects primarily through the following three Working Groups.

Working Group I
Maritime Education and Training System
Goals:
  1. Ensuring that individual seafarers contribute to safety and environmental protection.
  2. Improvement in the methods and the contents of Maritime Education and Training programs offered at IAMU member universities/faculties.
Working Group II
Maritime Safety Management System
Goals:
  1. The establishment of the safety management system to apply on the shore-side of the international maritime community.
  2. The establishment of the methods and contents of education and training programs for the maritime safety management system at IAMU member universities/faculties.
Working Group III
Promoting Global Maritime Excellence
Goals:
  1. Initiation of an international Maritime Education System which can be used by all IAMU members, including mutual recognition of post-graduate courses.
  2. Initiation of an international certification system for seafaring officers, including common evaluation standards and methods.
  3. Initiation of an international certification system for seafaring officers and a qualified maritime safety manager.
  4. Initiation of a new paradigm for the international maritime community based on a safety management system, which includes safety management from the shore side.
