There are 18 student in our Student Program who come from 12 maritime universities of eight countries, they are USA, Japan, England, Finland, Korea , Vietnam , Ukraine and China, we had a wonderful time than ever in Dalian maritime university with the companies of so many famous Professors and hard working student volunteers.
IAMU AGA7 Student Program is divided into three main parts, Presentation of research activities , International roundtable discussion and a wonderful lecture named Ò Adventure, Guinness, Records and dreamsÓ by our guest speaker, George Meegan.
The Presentations of research activities are impressive not only for the wide extension, but also the depth of the topics our student representatives chose. Our presented topics are as fellows:
An analysis of the factors that affect the cycle-time of a Quayside Gantry crane in Container Terminal;
Ice breaker in Finland;
Invasive Aquatic species and international ballast water management;
Examination of energy properties of ship waves;
Immediate countermeasure simulation supporting by ships at disasters;
Container security;
Marine Systems Engineering Synergy of Theory and real world experience;
The great Chinese navigator, Zheng he;
Liquefied Natural Gas, Fueling the future;
An special experience for an MMA and DMU exchange student;
Introductions of Odesa national Maritime Academy, Shanghai Maritime university, also University of Transport in Ho Chi Ming City.
The International roundtable discussions have four fixed topics, they are safe navigation and pollution prevention, the pros and cons of maritime education, future plan after the graduation and the things we should do during our maritime education. Also the lecture our guest speaker made with some valuable video is full of passion, which full-filled us with courage to face the future of our career.
I believe the students from those maritime universities or academies here today should be very talented and smart, and should be the high ranks who stand for the most advanced research activities in the student group, because some view points or ideas are just reasonable and acceptable, they may change our maritime education systems as well as the maritime industries in the future.
At last but not least, I would like to express our appreciations again to the Nippon Foundation, IAMU, Dalian Maritime University and Local Executive Committee. Thank you for all the opportunities you offered to us today, we will cherish these opportunities and challenge the future.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Kevin Cai
